WHAT SIZE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Nortown Moving & Self Storage can provide storage units that fit your needs perfectly! Our units range from 5’x10’ and are standard 10' high. If you’re unsure which size you require, listed below are the descriptions of our most popular unit sizes:

  • In a 5x10 unit (approximate size of a walk-in closet), you could store a couch, chair, chest of drawers, mattress set, some boxes and small items.

  • In a 10x10 unit (approximate size of a small bedroom) you could store the furnishings of a one-bedroom apartment including appliances or the furniture of two office suites.

  • In a 10x20 unit (roughly the size of a one-car garage) you could store the furnishings of a small house or a two-bedroom apartment.

We also do have units of other different sizes available.

TIPS FOR STORAGE

While storage units are convenient, not everything you own can be put away in the unit. A space that will be enclosed for longer durations should be safe. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for storage:

  • Drain all hazardous or combustible materials such as gasoline, cleaning fluids, paint from lawnmowers, power tools and snowmobiles before storing them.

  • To ensure rodents and pests don’t infest your unit, avoid storing perishable items.

  • Your homeowner or renter's insurance may not cover your belongings while in storage. You may need to purchase insurance.

  • Pack carefully: Ensure that fragile items are packed with soft packing materials like foam chips, bubble wrap and are labeled. Don’t overpack a box as it might turn out to be too heavy to carry.
